Liz Lisa in my native habitat

 photo LL_tree_on_Right_zps321b3562.jpg

I've been wearing my lucky pack clothes and I love them!  I decided to keep everything and not try to trade stuff.  Even the items I initially didn't think I'd like have turned out pretty cute once I tried them on.

At first I didn't like the outfit above because I thought the sweater made me too bulky and the dress was too brown but once I tried it on, I loved it!

I wore this outfit to the casual/impromptu gyaru meet with Crystal, Emi and Erica.  It was really fun!  I wish I had more photos.  Emi has better purikura scans here: http://westerngyaru.blogspot.com/2013/03/gal-vs-lolita.html

I finally got the Liz Lisa x My Melody bag that came with the catalog.  It's so cute!!  I also bought a Tralala lucky pack that came with the smug Tralala care bear guy.

From the Liz Lisa catalog...  I thought it looked like the last supper!    Sorry so sacrilegious!  haha

Anyway, here is me in the Tralala lucky pack.  I've been wearing this to work, even though it's a little short.  I love it!  I actually left work early with the flu on the day this photo was taken.

And finally, my super cozy Liz Lisa cardigan!  It feels so nice, like a fluffy sleeping bag!  haha!  I wear this on casual Fridays sometimes.  My dumb office is kinda strict about casual Friday.  We are not allowed to dress that casual.  Anyway,  I like wearing my LL stuff anyway.  :)

I haven't seen (or noticed) anyone else wearing their lucky pack clothes yet.  If you've worn yours and blogged about it, please send me the link, I want to see!

Liz Lisa Lucky Packs

Yay!  I feel so lucky!  I was able to buy two lucky packs from MaruQ last weekend.  One was Tralala and the other was Liz Lisa.

Picking up my packs at New People

The Tralala pack was the best, ever!  I love every item in the pack!

Contents of the Tralala LP

The Liz Lisa pack was less successful.  I love the bag more than the clothes inside.  I am actually interested in trading some of the items.  I posted in my livejournal account here, if anyone is interested: http://bouncybrown.livejournal.com/2602.html

I never thought I'd own as much Liz Lisa as I do.  I mean, Ma*rs is still my favorite gyaru brand but it's not a style that I can wear every day.  Liz Lisa, on the other hand, is appropriate for the office.  Check out my outfit in the first photo... I can and do wear that Liz Lisa blouse and cardigan to work!  I just have to drink my coffee over the sink. :P

Look, Ma*rs that would actually work for the office!

That reminds me, I haven't updated the OL Style tumblr in a long time.  I wish I had the kind of job where I could slack off online.  *sigh*

In other news, I have been able to hang out with Ichigo and Emi a few times recently.  *(^-^)*  I wish I had more free time to hang out with friends and even just free time to myself.

There should be five days of weekend instead of five days of work!  ;)  Have a good week, everybody!

xoxo

Betty Boop: the Gyaru icon

Photobucket
Ma*rs Betty Boop dress
I was really excited when I saw Ma*rs (the sexist Gyaru brand, ever!) had a dress with Betty Boop (the sexist cartoon character, ever!) on it.  Well, it's just Betty from the neck down and featuring Engrish but it's still cute.

How did my know who you was?  I'd recognize your cute figure anywhere, Betty!  <3
Betty Boop is one of my all-time favorite characters, up there with My Melody.  I think she is totally underrated.  I always think it’s weird that Barbie is so popular but Betty gets so little love.  Yeah, Barbie is a total rip off  ok but Betty is totes adorbs.  If I could turn into a cartoon, I’d so rather be Betty—big head and all!

When I was first learning about Gyaru style, I saw an adorable Betty Boop dress from Lip Service on Universal Doll's blog.  I completely fell in love with that Lip Service dress!  At the time I wasn’t familiar with shopping services so I bought got it.  It probably would be way too short on me anyway!  But Betty did play a role in my love for Gyaru style J

Betty Boop, like many Gyaru fashion itself, is sexy but extremely cute.  She really fits the Gyaru aesthetic.  Her image appears in gyaru every once in a while, looking cute as always!

In the December 2012 Jelly, I found this cute sweater...

And this incongruous collaboration between Betty Boop and Thrasher...

So what do you think?  Isn't Betty the cutest ever!?  Do you have a character you like and/or want to look like?

EDITED 01/10/13 to add:

OMG,  LancĂ´me is now using Betty to advertise their mascara!  Yay Betty!  I'll never get sick of you!(Or will I?  Haha)

2013: Smoke Cigarettes and Be Yourself

It's 2013!  Yay!  It is going to be MY year!  I know that's like jinxing myself but I don't care.  :)

I went to the symphony for NYe.  It was actually sold out but this was during the intermission.
[dress & necklace: Betsey Johnson]

I didn't write any New Year's Resolutions except that I wanted to start smoking.  I know it's a dumb resolution but my thought behind choosing this resolution was that I wanted to stop worrying what everyone else thinks or expects of me.  So my resolution is not really to start smoking but rather to do what I want.

I actually can't start smoking because then my health insurance costs would go up.  Plus it would speed up the already rapid deterioration of my looks, which were never that impressive anyway.  But I will make an effort to do what I want and not worry what people think, especially my scary mom.  I will get more tattoos!!  I do what I want!!

Oh, the irony of calling this "glamour"
Look, Glamour has it right!  Be yourself!  Do as they say!  I subscribed to Glamour magazine at some point; I actually don't remember subscribing to it but I think it was for charity through a member of my husbands family.  This month's was my first issue. I like Anne Hathaway but this is an awful cover.  I don't think it could be any less glamorous if they tried.

I need this coffee holder... to remind me that my blog sucks.  ;)
OK, I got off topic.  I may start a blog to chronicle my decorating of our new place.  I don't want to clog up this blog with decorating stuff.  If you like girly but modern design, check out http://madebygirl.blogspot.com All the posts are really cute.

At a holiday party
[dress: Bettie Page, purse: from Japan!  Bee's Kiss, I think]

So anyway, have a belated Happy New Year! Do what you want!  Smoke cigarettes!  That's right, I advocate smoking, cuz I do what I want!  ;)

I have lots of blog post ideas in my head that are decidedly ON topic and actually gyaru related.  Coming soon... as time permits...
